EMDR Individual 60 Minute Sessions
What is EMDR Therapy?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a well-researched, integrative therapy proven effective for treating trauma. It follows standardized protocols and draws from various therapeutic approaches.
How Does EMDR Work?
EMDR uses bilateral stimulation, often through eye movements, to activate both sides of the brain. This mimics the brain's natural processing during REM sleep, helping to reprocess trapped memories and restore normal information processing. EMDR is often used to address trauma, childhood abuse, neglect, and related beliefs.
What Does EMDR Help With?
EMDR can be effective if you experience distressing emotions, heightened reactions to triggers, or believe in negative thoughts about yourself that you intellectually know aren't true. Initially developed for PTSD, EMDR has also been helpful for other conditions. See the list below for examples.
EMDR individual sessions can be done weekly, every other week, or at a different pace depending on your treatment plan.
